playcount

privacy

last updated 23 october 2026. playcount (playcount.fm) is a site for rating and discussing albums. this page explains what we store and why.

what we store

cookies

we use one cookie to keep you signed in, plus short-lived cookies during sign-in. no advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics.

what we don't do

we don't sell your data or share your email with anyone. ad spots show only playcount's own cards and labelled sponsored albums: no ad network, no ad tracking. we only send email you ask for, such as verification or password reset.

services we use

the site is hosted on fly.io. sign in with google is provided by google. account emails are sent through an email provider. payments for playcount plus are processed by stripe. album information and cover art come from public sources such as deezer, musicbrainz and the cover art archive; links to streaming services open those services directly.

your choices

you can edit or delete your ratings and reviews at any time. you can delete your whole account yourself: open settings and choose delete account at the bottom. it takes effect immediately and removes your profile, ratings, reviews, replies, lists, follows, likes, items and profile picture. replies other people wrote under your reviews go with those reviews.

backups: we keep daily backup copies for 14 days and a full copy each month for the last two months, and our host keeps short-lived disk snapshots. a deleted account can therefore still sit in a backup copy until that copy is replaced, which takes up to about two months.

to get a copy of your data, or to delete an account you can't sign in to, email playcount.fm@gmail.com and we'll handle it within 30 days.

children

playcount is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

changes

if this policy changes we'll update the date above. questions: playcount.fm@gmail.com.
